Henryk Wierzchoń

He graduated Music Education Department at National High School of Music in Warsaw (1977). He started working there as a teacher. He was conductor of academic choir. He graduated Department of Composition, Conducting and Theory of Music at Academy of Music in Warsaw (1984). His professors were: Ryszard Dudek, Henryk Wojnarowski, Romuald Twardowski, Henryk Czyż, Stanisław Wisłocki.

He is working with Opera Nova since 1984. He has prepared our choir for over 60 premieres: operas, operettas, musicals, oratorios. As a conductor he was leading those spectacles: “The Magic Flute”, “The Revenge of the Bat”, “Mr. Twardowski”, “Puss in the Boots”, “Fiddler on the Roof”, “Snow White” (he was also music director). He was working on oratorio “Messiah” by Händel with our choir (theatre version with stage movement, costumes and scenography) – they won the “Golden Mask” for that in 2000. He was also working on “The Magic Flute”, “Dion Giovanni”, “Nabucco”, “Mefistofele”, “The Land of Smiles” and “The Revenge of the Bat”.

He performed over 130 concerts with Artur Rubinstein Symphonic Orchestra in Bydgoszcz, f. ex. in National Philharmonic and Germany.

He is professor at Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz. He was in jury at many music competitions. As a conductor he performed with many symphonic orchestras and vocal-instrumentals bands in Poland and abroad.

He prepared Opera Nova’s choir to perform with Płock Symphonic Orchestra Verdi’s “Requiem”, Händel’s “Messiah”, Mozart’s “Requiem” in 2006 and Górecki’s “Miserere” at 49. Bydgoszcz Music Festival. He is also working with philharmonic in Zielona Góra and Koszalin.

He is also the composer of instrumental and vocal-instrumental pieces.
