Piotr Wajrak
The conductor, teacher, manager and business coach.
His master was professor Bogusław Madej. He was preparing repertoire at Grand Theatre-National Opera in Warsaw and conducting important spectacles there (“The Haunted Manor”, “The Sleeping Beauty”, “Romeo and Juliett”, “The Rite of Spring”, “Harnasie”, “Zorba the Greek”).
He was the youngest assistant conductor ever who was leading the premiere at main stage (“The Haunted Manor” 1996). He was conducting during the opening ceremony of Apollo’s Quadriga, where the most important authorities were present. He was conducting at operas in Bydgoszcz, Kraków, Gdańsk and Szczecin, during the overseas tournees. He was working with orchestras: Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Carlo Felice in Genoa and Teatro de Bellas Artes in Bogota.
He is conducting concerts at philharmonics and recording albums. He is preparing cultural events in churches, arenas and in the open air.
He debuted as opera conductor at Opera Nova in 1994 in “The Haunted Manor”. Since 2001 he was conducting many times “The Haunted Manor”, “Don Quixote”, “The Sleeping Beauty”, “Mr. Twardowski”, “The Midsummer Night’s Dream”, ‘L'elisir d'amore”, ‘Der Zigeunerbaron”, “My Fair Lady” and at the open air concerts. In 2013 he was music director of “Halka” by Moniuszko – the premiere was an opening spectacle at XX Bydgoszcz Opera Festival. In 2014 operetta “Die Csárdásfürstin” by Kálmán under his music direction was an opening spectacle at XXI Bydgoszcz Opera Festival. In 2016 he inaugurated XXIII Bydgoszcz Opera Festival with Verdi’s “Don Carlos” under his music direction. The latest premiere prepared by Wajrak was Verdi’s “Falstaff” (21 X 2017).
He was awarded The Decoration of Honor “Meritorious for Polish Culture” from Minister of Culture and National Heritage. In 2004-2011 he was artistic director at Warmian-Masurian Philharmonic in Olsztyn. Since season 2017/2018 he is artistic director at Lublin Philharmonic.
