Ryszard Smęda
He was born in Warmia. He graduated from Faculty of Vocal Music at Academy of Music in Warsaw. He was working at Kraków Opera and Baltic Opera in Gdańsk. Since 1980 he is a soloist at Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz.
He was awarded “The Golden Mask” three times for his performances: Falstaff in “The Merry Wives of Windsor” (1986), Tevye in “Fiddler on the Roof” (1993), Leporello in “Don Giovanni” (1997). He has more than 60 opera, operetta and musical parts in his repertoire.
In 2012 he received „Golden Cross of Merit” from President of Poland for 35 years of his artistic work.
In 2016 he was awarded “Silver Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis”.
In October 2016 he was celebrating 40 years of his artistic work. He was singing in “Il barbiere di Sivilgia” at Opera Nova’s stage.
