Janusz Ratajczak
He was born in Szczecinek, where he started his musical career in the choir „De Profundis”. Just before studies he won Stanislaw Moniuszko Vocal Competition in Kudowa-Zdrój (1983). He graduated from Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz in prof. Irena Maculewicz-Żejmo’s class. During his studies he debuted as Frank in premiere spectacle “Flis” by Moniuszko at Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz. Since 1988 he is a soloist at Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz.
He is also working with other music theatres in Poland, such as Kraków Opera, Music Theatre in Gliwice, Grand Theatre in Warsaw, Opera in Wrocław, Castle Opera in Szczecin and Music Theatre in Poznań. He performed many times in Denmark, Benelux, Austria, Italy, France, Germany and Switzerland. He sang the title role in Padarewski’s “Manru” which was recorded on DVD.
Janusz Ratajczak is also great at teaching. In 1991-1992 he was singing teacher at Music School in Toruń. In 1999-2002 he was an assistant at Faculty of Vocal Music and Acting at Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz. In 2004-2009 he was an assistant at Music Education Institute at Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz. In 1992-2009 he was working as singing teacher in National Music School in Inowrocław. He is a professor at Faculty of Vocal and Acting at Academy of Music in Łódź. In 2013 president Bronisław Komorowski gave him the professor title.
He sang almost 1400 spectacles. In his repertoire there are almost 50 parts, including 35 leading roles.
