Plan your May holiday at the Opera! Tickets on sale from January 5

And here, in January… it’s May! Of course, we’re not talking about the weather, but about tickets for our May performances, which will go on sale from January 5 - at the Opera Nova box office and online. We invite you to our Opera for May holidays filled with excitement, great emotions, and extraordinary adventures!

We invite you to attend performances of “La serva padrona” on May 12, 18, and 26 at 6:00 PM. Tickets are available at the Opera Nova box office and online HERE.

“May is like a leafy grove” — among flowers and the intoxicating scent of blooming lilac, love also blossoms. True, we will not invite you into a garden, but into the home of the old bachelor Uberto, whom the cunning maid Serpina intends to ensnare in the traps of affection. Helping her rise from a servant to a lady of the house is the servant Vespone — a character who will make you laugh… without saying a single word! At the most unexpected moments, the Man-of-All-Work will also appear.

We guarantee it will be a humorous and unconventional encounter with opera — the immersive format of the performance allows the audience to be closer to the action and the characters than ever before. And remember: in this production, you swap places with the musicians, who take seats in the auditorium, while you surround the stage.

“La serva padrona” by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, directed by Jerzy Jan Połoński, is the perfect choice for a delightful May evening!

Three May evenings with “Faust”: May 15 and 16 at 7:00 PM, and May 17 at 6:00 PM. Tickets are available at the Opera Nova box office and online HERE. Photo: Andrzej Makowski

Even in the most beautiful of times, storms can occur — including those that shape history. “Faust” by Charles Gounod returns to our stage. Although director Paweł Szkotak has set the action in the reality of World War I, this is a production in which the present day is reflected like a mirror: love in uncertain times, the omnipresence of evil, and the relentless pursuit of youth and the meaning of life. Sounds familiar?

The thrill of emotions is heightened by the sound of the full Opera Nova Orchestra — with harps and organ — while the experience is intensified by Mariusz Napierała’s impressive set design, multimedia projections, and hundreds of costumes for soloists, choir, and ballet designed by Martyna Kander.

“Faust” is an opera you will never forget!

Post-premiere Lucia…

On our May stage, a drama of passion leading to madness will also unfold. Masterpieces of Italian bel canto can be experienced in a moving production of “Lucia di Lammermoor” by Gaetano Donizetti, prepared for Opera Nova by the outstanding American artist Thaddeus Strassberger — a director who stages productions on the world’s greatest opera stages.

The May performances will be the first opportunity to see the Bydgoszcz production of “Lucia di Lammermoor” after its premiere, which opened the 32nd Bydgoszcz Opera Festival.

Post-premiere performances: May 21, 22, and 23 at 7:00 PM.
Tickets are available at the Opera Nova box office and online HERE.

We will present family ballet performances of “Alice in Wonderland” on May 29 at 7:00 PM, and May 30 and 31 at 5:00 PM. Tickets are available at the Opera Nova box office and online HERE.

We also invite families to an adventure-filled May holiday with “Alice in Wonderland”! This colorful ballet spectacle, staged and choreographed by Robert Bondara, delights with extraordinary characters brought to life through movement, costumes, and imaginative makeup and hairstyles. The White Rabbit, the Fearsome Queen of Hearts, the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, the Dormouse, and the Caterpillar all appear in a fairytale-like set. Vanishing cats, mad tea parties — these and many other extraordinary stories unfold in the imagination of the title heroine, known from the pages of Lewis Carroll’s novel.

The music for the ballet was composed by Przemysław Zych.
“We sat there enchanted, and before I knew it, the performance was over,” wrote one of our opera lovers.

So jump down the rabbit hole together with Alice and enter a world of fantasy — beautiful and colorful, at least as much as May itself!
