Jej rywalką w pojedynku o względy marynarza Enza (księcia Grimaldi incognito) jest eteryczna Laura. Porzucona Gioconda walczy z pragnieniem zemsty: znika jej radość życia, pozostaje pasja, zuchwałość i duma. Musi podjąć walkę z groźnymi przeciwnikami: sadystycznym mężem Laury Alvise Badoero i będącym w jego służbie szpiegiem Barnabą.
